For the second time, the Lawyers Road property went under contract with another buyer.

As far as I was concerned, I was done.

We had made multiple offers. We had been rejected multiple times. Our original financing numbers had changed. And now someone else was buying the building.

But Stacy still believed.

“That building is coming back to us.”

Meanwhile, we had another problem to solve. We still had to transition out of our current facility, and we needed somewhere for our church family to gather.

Then God provided in a way I never expected.

There’s a pastors’ meeting that takes place in our region that I hadn’t been able to attend in a while because I take my kids to school.

The leader of the group reached out to me and asked, “Where have you been?”

I told him why I hadn’t been able to make it.

He then asked me, “What time would you be able to come?”

I told him, “8:30 AM.”

Within 5 minutes, he sent out a mass email changing the meeting time to 8:30 AM.

I told Stacy I now have to attend. 😃

I showed up to the next meeting, and they asked me to share a bit. I began sharing with the pastors about our situation and our need to transition out of our building. Before I could even finish explaining everything, Pastor Luke from Joy Church interrupted the conversation.

He offered to let TrueLife use their building.

Just like that, God provided a temporary home. It was a major blessing.

In January, we began gathering at Joy Church on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 PM. It wasn’t our permanent home, and it wasn’t necessarily how we would have planned the journey, but it was exactly what we needed for that season.

At the same time, we continued searching for financing.

One bank told us we could borrow one amount, while another bank gave us a different number. But neither amount seemed to bring us any closer to purchasing the kind of facility we knew we needed.

But something was happening during this season that I can see much more clearly now.

God was giving us room to wait.

We didn’t have to rush into the wrong property because we needed somewhere to meet. We didn’t have to force a financial situation that didn’t make sense. We didn't have to commit to a 5-year lease that would be difficult to break. God had provided a place for our church while He continued working on the place that would eventually become ours.

Then February came.

We received a call we never expected.

The sellers of the Lawyers Road property, the same people who had rejected our offers and gone under contract with another buyer, came back to us.

“We’ll take your last offer.”

Our last offer was back on the table.

There was just one major problem:

We still didn’t have a bank.

As you’ll see in next week’s blog, we were about to make one of the biggest faith decisions of our journey. We said yes to the purchase without having the financing in place, then watched as God connected the dots in a way none of us could have orchestrated.
