A Divine Interruption

By this point, we had begun moving on.
We were in serious negotiations to buy land in Unionville and trying to decide whether building from the ground up was our next step.
Then, in November, something unexpected happened.
Lawyers Road came back.
The property we had wanted, the property that had gone under contract with someone else, was suddenly available again.
Our realtor thought it might be a distraction from the direction we were already moving, but something inside me felt different.
I told him, “I don’t think this is a distraction. I think it’s a divine interruption.”
So we went back to the table and submitted another offer. This time for slightly more.
They declined it... again!
Then we received another blow.
Our pre-qualification letter was actually reduced by 25% after the bank discovered that they had made an error. Our actual borrowing capacity was nowhere near the amount we had initially been pre-qualified for or the amount we were offering.
Suddenly, the gap between what we could borrow and what the sellers wanted seemed enormous.
But then something happened that reminded me that God’s provision isn’t limited to what a bank says.
An anonymous family stepped forward and told us they wanted to start a $250,000 dollar-for-dollar matching campaign toward the purchase of our future church home.
Just when the numbers said we had less, God showed us that He had resources we couldn’t see.
With renewed faith, we decided to make one final offer attempt.
And once again, the answer was no.
By then, I was exhausted.
I told Stacy that this building felt like a jaded ex-girlfriend and I was done!
Then the property went under contract with another buyer.
Again.
As far as I was concerned, that chapter was closed.
But Stacy still wasn’t convinced.
She continued saying what she had said before: “That building is coming back to us.”
As you’ll see in next week’s blog, while I was ready to walk away from Lawyers Road for good, God was already arranging our next step. An unexpected conversation with another pastor would provide exactly what our church needed during the transition and give us room to wait for a miracle we didn’t yet know was coming.
