Our Journey Home Part 3
When our offer on the Lawyers Road property was declined, we were disappointed. But we still held on to hope.

Then came the news we had been dreading.
The property had gone under contract with another buyer.
Just like that, the dream seemed to be over.
If I’m being honest, Stacy and I were crushed. We had prayed. We had believed. We had pictured our church’s future there. Now it appeared that God had something else in mind.
It took us several days to recover emotionally.
Have you ever experienced something like that?
You believe you’re walking in God’s direction, only to watch the opportunity disappear.
It’s one of the hardest places to be because you don’t just question the situation, you begin to question whether you heard God correctly.
But while I was trying to make sense of what had happened, Stacy never wavered.
She kept saying the same thing over and over: “The building is coming back to us.”
I’ll admit, I wasn’t there yet.
So we did what we knew to do…
We kept moving forward.
We began exploring another opportunity in Unionville, where 7 acres of land had been divided into 2 parcels. We entered negotiations to purchase 3 acres with cash, believing we could build from the ground up.
On paper, it seemed like a great solution.
But as we met with general contractors and began gathering estimates, reality quickly set in. The projections were sobering. An 8,000-square-foot metal building would cost a minimum of $3 million and take a minimum of 15 months to complete.
It wasn’t impossible. It just wasn’t what we believed God had for us.
Looking back now, I think God allowed us to explore another path for a reason. Sometimes He lets you see the alternative so you’ll recognize the value of His original plan.
What looked like a setback was actually bringing clarity.
We didn’t know it then, but while we were making plans in Unionville, God was still working behind the scenes on Lawyers Road.
As you’ll see in next week’s blog, just when we thought we had moved on, the property unexpectedly came back into the picture. Some called it a distraction. I saw it differently.
I believed it was a divine interruption.
